Advancing research on ecosystem service bundles for comparative assessments and synthesis

چکیده
Social-ecological interactions have been shown to generate interrelated and reoccurring sets of ecosystem services, also known as service bundles. Given the potential utility bundles concept, along with recent surge in interest it is timely reflect on its current use for future. Based our bundle experience, expertise, analyses, we found critical elements advancing concept deepening impact In this paper 1) examine different conceptualizations concept; 2) show range benefits using a approach; 3) explore key issues improving research bundles, including indicators, scale, drivers relationships between services; 4) outline priorities future by facilitating comparisons research.

Uncovering Ecosystem Service Bundles through Social Preferences
Ecosystem service assessments have increasingly been used to support environmental management policies, mainly based on biophysical and economic indicators. However, few studies have coped with the social-cultural dimension of ecosystem services, despite being considered a research priority. We examined how ecosystem service bundles and trade-offs emerge from diverging social preferences toward...
متن کاملEcosystem service bundles for analyzing tradeoffs in diverse landscapes.
A key challenge of ecosystem management is determining how to manage multiple ecosystem services across landscapes. Enhancing important provisioning ecosystem services, such as food and timber, often leads to tradeoffs between regulating and cultural ecosystem services, such as nutrient cycling, flood protection, and tourism. We developed a framework for analyzing the provision of multiple ecos...

Global environmental change affects the sustained provision of a wide set of ecosystem services. Although the delivery of ecosystem services is strongly affected by abiotic drivers and direct land use effects, it is also modulated by the functional diversity of biological communities (the value, range, and relative abundance of functional traits in a given ecosystem). The focus of this article ...
متن کاملNeeded: Global Collaboration for Comparative Research on Cities and Health
Over half of the world’s population lives in cities and United Nations (UN) demographers project an increase of 2.5 billion more urban dwellers by 2050. Yet there is too little systematic comparative research on the practice of urban health policy and management (HPAM), particularly in the megacities of middle-income and developing nations. We make a case for creating a global database on citie...
